In order to help patients and families understand stroke and how to prevent recurrent stroke, Dalworth Nursing & Rehabilitation offers Starting Now. This educational series was developed by RehabCare Group with the American Stroke Association and includes written material, as well as class instruction by a team of healthcare professionals. Participants

Patients with appropriate cognitive status and caregivers or families of patients with appropriate diagnosis:

Cerebrovascular accident
Intracerebral hemorrhage
Transient ischemic attack
Other neurological conditions

Who Can Refer to the Program?

Patients and families may be referred to our center and to Starting Now by any of the following:

Physicians
Social workers/discharge planners
Nurses/case managers
Hospitals
Community members
Family members

Starting Now is offered in conjunction with our physical rehabilitation program offering speech, occupational, and physical therapies. There is no cost to attendees and while the program is provided in conjunction with a rehabilitative program for victims of stroke and related diagnosis, participation is open to all caregivers, family members, or others interested in stroke education and prevention.
